Very, Very Happy New Year!
Like every story about Kerri and Alex, this one is super romantic.
It was Alex's birthday, which is SUCH a grand occasion that the WHOLE WORLD celebrates it every single year with parades, fireworks and wild parties! It also just happened to be New Years Eve. They had been living in the Big Brown House in the Poconos for about five months and had just that day purchased a TV from Walmart so they could attempt to watch the ball drop on UStream (because they are much too advanced to spend money on something as trivial as TV service... which has nothing at all to do with them being cheep, I assure you.) That day they had done some other very exciting things... like take the car through the car wash... and eat dinner... someplace.
It was almost time for the ball to drop and for everyone in Time Square to cheer for Alex's 23rd year on earth when Alex went upstairs to "brush his teeth." For some reason, he had to go into the spare room for an awkward amount of time before "brushing his teeth." Alex then came down stairs to watch the ball drop with Kerri... but instead of sitting next to her on the couch, where he had been sitting just before, he decided to sit on the floor to "sit with Jazz."
A few moments later, he made his way closer to Kerri, still on the floor. While it is difficult to scale "normal" behavior with these two, Kerri found it notably strange. Alex then said "I love you" ... to which Kerri responded "I love you too... why are you sitting on the floor?"
Alex then asked her "Do you want to marry me?" To this, Kerri responded "yes." Then he popped the BIG question... "are you sure?" To this Kerri, reiterated her previous affirmative. Then, like it was right out of the movies, Alex pulled a beautiful diamond ring out of his sweat pants pocket and put it on Kerri's finger. In response to this, she muttered a bunch of nonsense no-one would have understood, hugged and kissed him and then cycled through laughing, crying and saying "omg" for a few minutes solid.
The rest is history... :)
